More than 80% of North Carolina’s land mass is privately owned.  While public lands are important for conserving natural resources the actions of private landowners to manage, protect, and conserve their property are vital in our quickly developing state. Aldo Leopold summed it up very well in his 1934 essay Conservation Economics
